Household Hazardous Waste and
Electronics Recycling Days



Both 2020 events have been cancelled due to a combination of safety concerns and budget constraints from the Covid-19 pandemic.

During these events, the Highway Department accepts cleaners, paints, thinners and solvents, automotive fluids, lawn chemicals, and other household hazardous wastes along with electronics for recycling or safe disposal. These events are only for Town of Bethlehem residents and pre-registered businesses. Both events take place at the Highway Garage, 74 Elm Avenue East, Selkirk. The hours for these events are 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.  NOTE:  TVs AND COMPUTER MONITORS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THESE EVENTS.  Recycle televisions, monitors and other electronics year-round at the Town Transfer Station or at the annual Spring Recycle event in mid-April at the Elm Avenue Park.  Flyer with more details.

 

Document Shredding


Spring Recycle Fest that was scheduled to be held Saturday, April 4 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Town will be hosting a secure Document Shredding and Paper Recycling Event on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Elm Avenue Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., as part of the Spring Recycle Fest. 

There will be secure Document Shredding as part of the America Recycles Day event on Saturday, November 14 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Town of Bethlehem Highway Department parking lot, 74 Elm Avenue East, Selkirk.  NOTE: Secure shredding is limited to Town of Bethlehem residents and Bethlehem Central School District taxpayers with ID only. Shredding limit: 3 medium sized (e.g., copy paper size) boxes per household.  All participants must wear a mask and maintain adequate social distancing.  Please do NOT bring extra passengers to this event


Clothing/Textiles, Books and Appliances/Electronics/Scrap Metals Recycling


Spring Recycle Fest that was scheduled to be held Saturday, April 4 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will also be clothing/textile recycling, book recycling, and appliance/electronics/scrap metals recycling at the April 4, 2020 Spring Recycle Fest! For details see the event flyer

Textile and Book recycling will also be a part of the America Recycles Day event on Saturday, November 14 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Central Middle School, 332 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar.


Garden Day


Garden Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2020 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The compost facility will open for regular business on April 2, 2020.
