Property Tax Payment Information

Effective January 1st, 2016 all Water/Sewer bill payments must be received by the due date.   We will no longer accept the postmark date as the received/on-time date.  Late penalties will be assessed on all bill payments not received by the tax department by 4:30 p.m. on the due date.

Important Payment Information

  • Property tax bills are mailed in early January.  On taxes remaining unpaid after January 31, please note that a 1% penalty for tax payments made in February will be added and a 2% penalty for tax payments made in March will be added until the return of the unpaid taxes is made to the Commissioner of Finance on April 1, pursuant to law and to whom they are payable. After April 1, additional fees are charged by the Commissioner of Finance. Tax bills cover January 1 to December 31.
  • The back of the tax statement contains important information on exemptions, deadlines, and third-party notification. Taxpayers are urged to carefully review the provisions to determine if any of them apply.  
  • A 10% late fee will be assessed on any water/sewer bill not paid by the due date.
  • The town offers four methods to pay your bill: by mail, in person, bank draft or online by debit/credit card.  
  • If paying by check, please write your account number on your check or money order and make payable to Receiver of Taxes.  A $20 fee will be charged for insufficient funds or returned checks.
  • In the event you did not receive a property tax bill and should have, please call 518-439-4955, ext. 1181.  Those with an escrow account will not receive a bill.

Pay By Mail


To remit by mail, tear off the stub at the bottom of the form and return it with a check in the envelope provided. Your cancelled check is your receipt. If you wish for your tax bill to be stamped "paid" and returned, mail the entire bill with your payment.

All payments should be mailed to the addresses listed below. Please note, for Property Tax payments only, mailed bills must be U.S. postmarked to determine its mailing date. Pay In Person


Bring your bill and payment to the Tax Department located on the ground level floor at 445 Delaware Avenue, Delmar. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  For in person payments the town accepts cash, checks, money orders and debit/credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).  Debit/credit card payments are offered by a 3rd party vendor, Value Payments Systems, who charges a small convenience fee for the service.  The town receives only the amount of your bill.  Residential Water/Sewer convenience fee $1.99 debit, $2.49 credit.  Commercial Water/Sewer convenience fee 2.5% debit/credit ($1.99 minimum commercial fee).  All non-Water/Sewer payment convenience fee 1.00% debit, 2.39% credit, e-Check $1.50 ($1.95 minimum non-tax fee).

Drop Box
A drop box is available for tax and water payments. The drop box is located by the recycling bin in the Town Hall parking lot, across from the building, near the playground. Payments can be deposited in this secure drop box 24 hours a day, but please read and follow these guidelines:
    • Absolutely no cash payments will be accepted.
    • The box will be emptied at approximately 4:30 p.m. each business day.
    • Any payments placed in the box after 4:30 p.m. on a due date will be subject to applicable penalties.
    • Payments should be placed in an envelope. Please put your property location or account number on your check.

Bank Draft - Automatic Payment Option


Homeowners can enroll in auto-payment program that automatically deducts the amount due from your checking or savings account. There is no fee for this service. It is currently available for water/sewer bills and property tax billsApplications for auto-payment of water bills are on the back of the water bill.

Pay Online By Debit/Credit Card
