Selkirk Fire District Election and Proposition Vote 12/11, 12-9 pm - duly registered residents of the Fire District shall be eligible to vote

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Election of the Selkirk Fire District will take place on December 11, 2018 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Selkirk Fire District Fire Stations. Qualified voters may vote at any one of the following polling places:
  • 126 Maple Avenue Selkirk, NY 12158
  • 301 Glenmont Road Glenmont, NY 12077
  • 480 Bridge Street South Bethlehem, NY 12161
for the purposes of:

1) electing one Commissioner for a five (5) year term, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2023;

2) electing one Commissioner for a one (1) year term, commencing January 1, 2019 and ending December 31, 2019; and

3) voting on Proposition 1, a resolution approved by the Board of Fire Commissioners authorizing the issuance of Fire District bonds in an amount not to exceed $17,750,000 for the purposes of fire station construction projects, subject to mandatory referendum. Proposition 1 reads substantially as follows:

Proposition 1

Shall the Bond Resolution adopted by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Selkirk Fire District in the Town of Bethlehem, County of Albany, State of New York on November 8, 2018 for the objects and purposes of authorizing the construction of a new Fire District Fire Station on Route 9W Selkirk, New York and reconstruction of the Glenmont Fire Station located at 301 Glenmont Road Glenmont, New York, including incidental equipment and expenses in connection therewith at a maximum estimated cost of $17,750,000; authorizing the issuance of $17,750,000 in serial bonds of the Fire District or so much thereof as may be necessary to pay the cost thereof after deducting any federal, state, county, and/or local funds received; pledging the faith and credit of the Fire District for the payment of the principal and interest on said bonds; authorizing the annual levy on all taxable real property of the Fire District, a tax sufficient to pay the principal interest on said bonds as the same becomes due and payable; determining that the period of probable usefulness thereof and maximum maturity of the serial bonds therefor is twenty-five (25) years; delegating the power to authorize and sell bond anticipation notes and to fix the details of and to sell serial bonds to the Fire District Treasurer; and containing an estoppel clause and providing for publication of an estoppel notice, be approved?

Candidates for the office of Fire District Commissioner shall file their names and petitions with the signatures of twenty-five resident electors of the Fire District with the Secretary of the Selkirk Fire District, at the Fire District Administration Office, 126 Maple Avenue, Selkirk, New York 12158 or by email at, no later than 11:59 PM on November 21, 2018.

Only those persons who are residents of the Selkirk District on or before November 13, 2018 and are registered to vote with the Albany County Board of Elections on or before November 19, 2018 shall be eligible to vote.
