2020 Census is underway

The 2020 Census is now open. Please take the census, while you are home. It doesn’t take long to complete and there are only a few questions. Letters were sent in the mail with instructions to complete online. The response period has been extended through October 31.

Responding to the 2020 Census is Easycomplete online via internet from personal computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. The 2020 Census is Safe – Census Bureau can only use your answers to produce statistics. Responses to Census questions cannot be shared for 72 years from when the census is taken. 1940 census responses were released in 2012. Need for an Accurate Count: George Washington University study determined for every 1 person not counted in the Census a municipality stands to lose $1,814 per person per year (10 years). Effects federal program funding for Housing, Family Services, Infrastructure, Health, Education, and more. The 2020 Census is Important – Census data is used to allocate $675 billion in federal funds and used locally to allocate share of County sales tax = revenue for Town budget. Bethlehem is halfway to completion with a 68% overall response rate. Check here for updated response status and keep it going and be counted, Bethlehem!
