Police Press Release - Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, April 28 at Elm Ave Park, 10-2

The Bethlehem Police Department will once again partner with the U. S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, for the next drug take back event.  The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.  This event allows people to turn over unwanted prescription drugs and controlled substances, anonymously.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the front parking lot of the Elm Avenue Park located at 261 Elm Avenue in Delmar.  This is a drive up event and people can discard the drugs into an approved container from their vehicle, no questions asked.

NO sharps will be accepted.

DO NOT show up prior to 10:00 a.m.

Further information and other locations that are conducting drug take backs on this day can be found at: and

  • Everyone may participate and the program is anonymous
  • If disposing in original container, you are encouraged to remove identifying information from the label (but that is not required)
  • Accepted items include prescription and over the counter medications in pill, liquid and powder form.
  • Controlled and non-controlled substances are accepted
  • Intravenous solutions, injectables and needles will NOT be accepted
  • Prevent old medicines from falling into the wrong hands where they can endanger human or community health.
  • NEVER flush medications down toilets or drains.  Flushing down the drain or otherwise improperly discarding meds pollutes drinking water and can harm the environment.
