Bethlehem Police Arrest 2 Delmar residents on weapons charges

                On Friday, July 6, 2018, the Bethlehem Police Department, assisted by the Albany County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant pursuant to an on-going investigation.  Police searched a home on Longmeadow Drive in Delmar and discovered a small marijuana growing operation and multiple weapons.

            Also located inside the house was evidence of a larger growing operation that had been recently removed, as well as five cane swords, metal knuckles, thirteen Kung Fu throwing stars, two sets of chucka sticks, a metal knuckle knife, numerous daggers, and a bullet proof vest.

            Arrested were Joseph J. Martin 42, and Daniel S. Johnson, 48, both of Delmar.  They were each charged with twelve misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, as well as misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 5th degree, and Unlawfully Growing Cannabis. 

            Both Martin and Johnson were arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court by the Honorable Judge Ryan Donovan.  They were remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.  A return court date has been set for August 7, 2018, at 4PM.  The investigation was led by Bethlehem Police with the assistance of the Albany County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Unit.  The investigation is continuing and anyone with information on these two subjects is asked to contact Bethlehem Police at 518-439-9973.
