Sewer Permits are required for all sewer connections and repairs.  The Bethlehem Sewer District will need to perform an inspection on sewer lines that are connected to the sewer system.

Insurance requirements: Any contractor or other party performing work in connection with the construction of a sewer connection must be approved by the Town and have on file with the Town an Owner’s and Contractor’s protective liability insurance policy, in the name of the Town of Bethlehem and/or the Town of Bethlehem Sewer District, in the following amounts:

Bodily Injury - $2,000,000.00 (two million) each accident

A $5,000.00 (five thousand) dollar permit bond indemnifying the Town of Bethlehem and/or the Town of Bethlehem Sewer District is required.

No permits will be issued until the insurance and bond requirements are met.

Q.  What is the difference between storm sewers and sanitary sewers?
A.  Sanitary Sewers have solid covers on them. Storm Sewers have open grate covers in the road. When they become clogged with leaves or snow, please remove the debris or call the Highway Department at 439-4955, option 1 then option 3.

Discharging any material such as used motor oil, paint, solvents, or pesticides into the storm or sanitary sewers is strictly prohibited.  If you observe someone doing so please contact the Highway Department (439-4955, option 1 then option 3), Sewer Department (439-4955, option 1) or Bethlehem Police Department (439-9973).

Q.  Who do I call when I have a problem?
A.  Please call the Sewer Department at 439-4955, option 1, (after hours call Bethlehem Police – 439-9973) if you experience a back-up in your home.  We have personnel on call 24 hours a day to respond to all calls.
