*RESIDENTIAL PERMITS (yellow sticker on mirror)
are available at the Town Clerk's Office at the Town Hall or the Elm Avenue Park
Offices, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
or Highway Department, Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bring your vehicle
registration. Both the Landfill and Compost permits are good for the lifetime of your

needed for town residents to utilize the Compost Facility and/or the
Landfill/Transfer Station.
If you are a Bethlehem resident and renting or using a vehicle besides your own, you can
get a temporary permit at the Town of Bethlehem Highway Department. You will
need to bring your drivers license or tax/utility bill with your Bethlehem address on it
along with year make model and tag number of the borrowed vehicle. The temporary
permit is free of charge and is valid for two weeks.
NON-RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL PERMITS
Out of town contractors or businesses are permitted to use the landfill if they are working
in Bethlehem and have a temporary permit for the landfill for their work location. The
compost facility does have a fee schedule for residential, non-residential and business
customers.
All commercial and temporary vehicle permits must be
obtained at the Highway Garage on Elm Avenue East.
====================================================
Yard Waste is composted at the Town's Compost and Wood Chipping
Facility. Properly prepared yard waste is picked up by the Town of Bethlehem Highway
Department. Reusable containers and paper bags are acceptable. Bags and
containers should not weigh over 50 lbs. Plastic bags for yard
waste are UNACCEPTABLE.
Year-round, brush and branches should be stacked
neatly at curbside.
During Spring Cleanup (the month of April exclusively) and Fall (about
October 15) leaves can be left loose at curbside; no brush or trees from private
contractors. NOTE: There is no set schedule
during the Fall Loose Leaf Pickup, due to the volume of leaves. Year round, brush
can be stacked neatly at curbside in lengths not over 6 feet.
Please do not obstruct
the road with brush, leaf or grass piles. Placing debris into the roadway
constitutes a violation of the law as well as creates a hazardous situation for
pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Leave grass on the lawn to replenish nitrogen.
Yard Waste Paper Bags can be purchased, 3 for $1 at the
Town Hall,
Elm Avenue Park, Highway Department, and Rupert Road Transfer Station.
