New town code provisions were passed at the June 13th Town Board Meeting, clarifying the rules for temporary "lawn" signs often used by candidates for election, not-for-profits or civic groups promoting their events. These rules expand the town code´s permitted uses for temporary signs, but clarify that signs must be on private non-commercial property.
Many of the roadsides where signs have proliferated in the past will now be clearly prohibited areas, such as State Routes 32, 9W, and most of Delaware Avenue where there is no private, non-commercial property (for example, the area by the bridge into Albany).
The clarified rules are explained on the attached PDF.
