Household Hazardous Waste and
Electronics Recycling Days
These events will be held on May 4 and September 28, 2019 during which the Highway Department accepts cleaners, paints, thinners and solvents, automotive fluids, lawn chemicals, and other household hazardous wastes along with electronics for recycling or safe disposal. These events are only for Town of Bethlehem residents and pre-registered businesses. Both events will take place at the Highway Garage, 74 Elm Avenue East, Selkirk. The hours for these events are 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. NOTE: TVs AND COMPUTER MONITORS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THESE EVENTS. Recycle televisions, monitors and other electronics year-round at the Town Transfer Station or at the annual Spring Recycle event in mid-April at the Elm Avenue Park. Flyer with more details.
The Town will be hosting a secure Document Shredding and Paper Recycling Event on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Elm Avenue Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., as part of the Spring Recycle Fest. There will also be secure Document Shredding as part of the America Recycles Day event on Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Central Middle School, 332 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. NOTE: Secure shredding is limited to Town of Bethlehem residents and Bethlehem Central School District taxpayers only. Shredding limit: 3 medium sized (e.g., copy paper size) boxes per household.
Clothing/Textiles, Books and Appliances/Electronics/Scrap Metals Recycling
There will also be clothing/textile recycling, book recycling, and appliance/electronics/scrap metals recycling at the April 13, 2019 Spring Recycle Fest! For details see the event flyer. We are also holding Textile and Book recycling as part of the America Recycles Day event on Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Central Middle School, 332 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar.
On Garden Day, limited amounts of free compost and wood mulch are available to residents. Please bring your own shovel and container; no loader is available on Garden Day. The 2019 Garden Day will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the town Compost facility located at 1244 Feura Bush Road in Selkirk.
