SENIOR SEWER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR
GRADE/SALARY: 16 - $56,457 plus Excellent Benefits
THIS IS A COMPETITIVE CIVIL SERVICE POSITION.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is an important supervisory and technical position involving responsibility for assisting in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a type 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant containing facilities for the activated sludge process including modifications. General direction is received from the Chief Plant Operator for planning work methods and dealing with emergency conditions. Supervision is exercised over operators, trainees, laboratory personnel and mechanical and maintenance assistants.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications at time of application.
Open Competitive: Possession of a Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate AND two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
Promotional: Possession of a valid Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation AND full-time, permanent competitive status for a period of twenty-four (24) months as a Sewer Treatment Plant Operator in the Town of Bethlehem Department of Public Works.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license at time of appointment. License must remain valid throughout appointment.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
