The construction work associated with the four sewer repairs in Delmar has been completed. Road and lawn restoration, where needed, will be completed soon. We will also be lining the newly repaired sections of sewer pipes in the next few months, but that work is done from the surface through the existing manholes.
Thank you for your patience as we completed this work. We know it is an inconvenience for those that live near or travel through these work zones, so we appreciate your understanding and the support we received during the project.
The sewer main replacement work has been completed on Hawthorne Avenue, Adams Place, and Adams Street. Work at the intersection near the Town's pocket park found that other sections of pipe were in need to replacing, so our crews addressed those problems before moving on to the second repair area on Adams Street.
Friday, 9/16 - The construction crew is starting on the last two repair sections on Delmar Place. Once these two sections of sewer main are replaced, the Town will work with our pipe lining contractor to complete the project.
Materials and Equipment will be delivered the week of September 5th.
Starting the week of Monday, September 12th, the Town will begin working on sewer main repairs in Delmar. The work areas will be: the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue, Adams Place and Adams Street (by the Pocket Park); near 179 Adams Street; near 40 Delmar Place; and near 60 Delmar Place. The sewer mains in these locations have started to fail, which could lead to sewage backups into homes and sinkholes in the roadways. The Department of Public Works will excavate to replace the damaged sections of sewer mains, then will line the pipes to minimize the likelihood of future breaks and problems. This will result in partial road and lane closures in the work areas, and we recommend that you use alternate routes to avoid the active construction zones.
The work is anticipated to take until approximately October 14th to complete. For additional information, please see the attached flyer or contact the Department of Public Works at 518-439-4955.
