Biography

Derek Mitchell is a Licensed Professional Engineer with 20 years of experience working in both private consulting and State Government. He has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resources Engineering from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. His career has included work related to private land development, municipal engineering, public infrastructure, water and wastewater conveyance and treatment, stormwater mitigation, and site grading and design.

A resident of Delmar, Derek was first appointed to the Planning Board on February 11, 2026.  His current term expires on December 31, 2029.
