You must contact our Customer Service Department with your billing questions at least 15 days before the due date on your bill so that any billing changes can be made before a penalty is assessed.
Important Payment Information
- The town offers four methods to pay your bill: by mail, in person, bank draft or online by debit/credit card.
- If paying by check, please write your account number on your check or money order and make payable to Receiver of Taxes. A $20 fee will be charged for insufficient funds or returned checks.
- A 10% late fee will be assessed on any bill not paid by the due date.

All payments should be mailed to the address listed below. Please note, U.S. postmarks, postage meter indication or foreign postmarks are not acceptable for determining timeliness of mailing. The payment must be received on or before 4:30 p.m. of the due date. Please do not mail cash.

Pay In Person
Town Hall is is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except holidays. Please check the Tax Department's web page for their office hours.
: Effective July 2, 2019 credit or debit card payments will no longer be accepted at Town Hall. Credit or debit cards can still be used to pay your water/sewer bill on-line. On-line payments are credited the next business day. All on-line payments must be made one day prior to the due date to avoid penalties.
A drop box is available for tax and water payments. The drop box is located by the recycling bin in the Town Hall parking lot, across from the building, near the playground. Payments can be deposited in this secure drop box but please read and follow these guidelines:
- *Please note* On the last day of a water or tax collection, the drop box will be locked to ensure all payments are processed timely.
- Absolutely no cash payments will be accepted.
- Payments should be placed in an envelope. Please put your property location or account number on your check.
Bank Draft - Automatic Payment Option
Never worry about being late or missing a payment. The Town of Bethlehem Water / Sewer District can automatically deduct your bill from your designated financial account each quarter on the due date that appears on your bill. You will continue to receive your quarterly water / sewer bill indicating your consumption, amount owed, and due date. The total amount of your bill will be automatically and electronically deducted from your designated financial account each quarter on the bank draft date that appears on your bill and is transferred to the Town of Bethlehem Water / Sewer District. In addition, you would receive notice of the transfer on statements provided to you by your financial institution.
Bank Draft Enrollment
If you want to use auto-pay for your next payment, you need to enroll before the bills are generated. When you sign up, a system test is performed to verify your account information. If you opt to sign up when you are paying your next bill, don't forget to include your payment with the enrollment form as the auto-pay service becomes effective for the next billing cycle.

Pay Online By Debit/Credit Card
The town has partnered with a 3rd party vendor, Value Payments Systems, to offer online debit/credit card payments for your water/sewer bill (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express). Value Payments Systems charges a small convenience fee for their service. The town receives only the actual amount of your bill. Residential customer convenience fee $1.99 debit, $2.49 credit. Commercial customer convenience fee 2.5% debit/credit ($1.99 minimum commercial fee). PLEASE NOTE: On-line payments are credited the next business day, all payments must be made one day prior to the due date to avoid penalties.

Delinquent Water/Sewer Bill
If your Water/Sewer account remains delinquent as of October 1, per New York State Law, the delinquent amount will be assessed on the tax roll for your property and will appear on the January Property Tax Bill.
You are responsible for notifying the Town of Bethlehem Water / Sewer District of any changes in account status. If you are planning to move, please contact Customer Service within five business days of your planned move.
The property owner is responsible for the water service line from the curb box, located at the edge of the property, to the point of entry into your building. It is the customer's responsibility to maintain their water service line and to protect from damage and keep accessible the water meter located on your property. If a damaged water meter is detected and we no longer have an accurate meter reading, you may be back-charged for water usage not previously billed to your account.
