Updates to New York State Child Safety Seat Law

Updates to Child Safety Seat Law

Effective November 1, 2019, New York State Law has been amended requiring all children under the age of two, be restrained in a rear-facing car seat.  Once a child outgrows the height and weight requirements of the infant style seat, it is recommended that a larger, rear-facing convertible style (or all-in-one style) seat be used.  Rear-facing seats save lives and protect our children the most.

For professional installation of child safety seats please contact the Bethlehem Police.  Complete and submit the Car Safety Seat Check Request form and an officer will contact you to set up an appointment.
