The Town will once again be hosting its Spring Recycle Fest on Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Elm Avenue Park. This event is open to ALL area residents EXCEPT secure shredding: Shredding is limited to Town of Bethlehem residents or BCSD taxpayers with ID only. Shredding limit: 3 medium sized (e.g., copy paper size) boxes per household.
- Seniors: Do you need assistance transporting your documents for shredding? If you are over the age of 60, Bethlehem Senior Transportation may be able to help with home pickup for documents (but not for other items). If you would like more information or to arrange a pickup time for your papers, please call 518-439-4955, extension 1170 by Friday April 17th.
- Clothing and Textile Reuse and Recycling: See list of acceptable and unacceptable items below.*
- Books collected for reuse by Grassroot Givers or for recycling if not selected for reuse. Please sort into boxes labeled “Donate” (gently used or newer books, especially children’s books) or "Recycle" (books that are in poor shape, or obsolete books such as textbooks or encyclopedias). Monetary donations gratefully accepted by Grassroots Givers.
- Kids and Adult Bicycles will be collected for reuse.
- Pre-order composters and rain barrels online by 4/23/2026 to be picked up at this event.
*CLOTHING AND TEXTILE REUSE AND RECYCLING ACCEPTABLE ITEMS:
• ALL types of clothing. Wearable clothing will be reused. Otherwise it will be recycled.
• Household textiles (tablecloths, sheets, blankets, curtains, towels), stuffed animals.
• Belts, hats, gloves, purses, bags, backpacks, footwear
• All items must be clean and dry, but it is okay if they are worn, torn, stained or slightly damaged
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS:
Do NOT include mattresses, rugs, pillows, loose foam stuffing, toys and household goods. No wet or mildewed textiles. No smelly items. No items contaminated with oil, paint or hazardous materials.
